Visiting Thailand Part 1: Temples of Bangkok

Buenos días! Despues de haber vivido cinco meses en Bangkok, he podido conocer bastante bien la ciudad y algunas otras partes del país. Por eso, quiero hacer una pequeña guía por si os animáis a visitar el país de la sonrisa. El primero de estos post va dedicado a los templos de Bangkok, que como ya sabéis, son una de las principales atraciones turísticas de la ciudad. Hay cientos de templos, pero voy a centrarme en los principales y en los que a mi mas me gustaron
Good morning!! After living five months in Bangkok I had the chance to know quite well the city and another parts of the country. That's why I want to do a little guide just in case you want to visit the land of smiles. This first post is going to be about the temples of Bangkok, which are one of the main tourist attractions of the of the city. There are hundreds, but I will only mention the main and those that I really liked.

Una de las actividades casi obligatorias cuando vienes a Tailandia suele ser el típico paseo en elefante. Y como no, en cuanto supe que nos mudabamos aqui, fué una de las primeras cosas que encabezó mi lista de cosas que hacer antes de abandonar este precioso país. Pero al llegar aqui y recaudar un poco de información, me di cuenta de que en la mayoría de los sitios tienen maltratados y completamente machacados a los animales. A diferencia de lo que se cree, la espalda del elefante es una de las partes más débiles, pudiendo soportar un máximo de 100 kg. Con lo que cuando contratas esos exuberantes paseos, con esas preciosas sillas a los lomos de los elefantes, el pobre animal sufre muchísimo ya que esta acarreando un peso mayor al que puede soportar. Otro de los puntos a tener en cuenta, es que por su gran tamaño, el elefante tiene que pasar unas 16 horas al día comiendo, cosa que es completamente imposible si tiene que pasar todo el día paseando a los turistas.

Pero encontramos Elephants World, una pequeña organización a dos horas y media de Bangkok que se encarga de rescatarlos, cuidarles y darles la vida que se merecen. Así que no lo dudamos, cogimos el coche y nos dirigimos a este centro para poder conocer mejor la labor que hacen y como no, aportar nuestro pequeño granito de arena.

Aun me emociono al escribir estas líneas y recordar todo lo vivido: alimentarlos directamente a la boca, preparles la comida, limpiarles, bañarnos con ellos en el río... Sin duda una de las mejores experiencias que he vivido!

Asi que como persona amante y defensora de los animales desde aquí me gustaría crear un poco de conciencia con este tema, y pediros que, sobre todo en este tipo de paises, os informéis muy bien antes de realizar ningun tipo de actividad con animales, ya que en la mayoría de los sitios o los maltratan o los tienen completamente drogados.

One of the most mandatory activities to do when you come to Thailand is an elephant ride. And of course, as soon as I knew we're moving to Bangkok, it was one of the first things that topped my list of things to do before leaving this beautiful country. But when I arrived here and I started collecting some information, I realized that most of the sites have completely crushed and abused animals. Contrary to popular belief, the back of the elephant is one of the weakest parts and only can withstand up to 100 kg. So when you hire these lush walks, with those beautiful chairs to the backs of elephants, the animal suffers a lot as it's carrying more weight than it can support. Another point, is that because of its size, the elephant has to spend about 16 hours a day eating, which is completely impossible if it has to spend all day strolling tourists. 

But we found Elephants World, a small organization two and a half hours far away from Bangkok that rescue them, take care of them and give them the life they deserve. So we didn't hesitate, we took the car and we headed to the center to learn more about the work they do and of course, add our two cents. 

I still get excited to write this and remember all the lived experiences: feed them directly into the mouth, prepare their food, clean them, have a bath with them in the river... Definitely one of the best experience ever!
So as an animal lover and advocate person from here I would create a little awareness to this issue, and ask you, especially in these countries, that inform well before performing any type of activity with animals, since in most of the sites or mistreat the animals or have them completely drugged.

Visiting Ayutthaya, Thailand

Buenos días!! Después de estas dos semanas de parón en el blog, en las que he aprovechado para poder asentarme un poco en Bangkok y visitar, retomo el blog con fuerza. Hoy quiero compartir con vosotros fotos del día que pasamos en Ayutthaya. Un día muy tranquilo y relajado recorriendo las ruinas y los templos de lo que fué la antigua capital del país. Good morning!! After this two weeks of break on the blog, in which I have been finishing moving to our new house in Bangkok and visiting, I return to the blog with a lot of energy . Today I want to share with you some photos of the day we spent in Ayutthaya. A very quiet and relaxed day visiting the ruins and temples of what was the ancient capital of the country. Visiting Singapore

Hola chicas!! Hoy os traigo un post con fotos de mi viaje relámpago a Singapur. Ayer fuimos a pasar el día, pero entre el viaje de ida y el de vuelta, tuvimos que hacer una visita mas bien rápida de la ciudad. Llegamos a la hora del mediodía, y lo primero que hicimos fué coger un taxi para ir a comer a Takashimaya Department Store, el centro comercial mas grande de Asia. Es inmenso, tienen todas las tiendas que te puedas imaginar, pero eso si, muchísimo mas caras que en España. Después de comer, decidimos hacer un poco de turisteo y nos fuimos a Merlion Park. Allí disfrutamos de las vistas de los rascacielos y de la famosa estatua Merlion, signo de la ciudad. Después de atravesar el río con un pequeño bote, nos subimos al famoso skypark del hotel de lujo Marina Bay Sands. Sin palabras! Y de noche las vistas son increíbles. He venido completamente enamorada de la ciudad, todo esta super limpio, nuevo y organizado. Es como la ciudad perfecta si no fuera por lo carisisima que es! Hey girls!! Today I show you some pics of my short trip to Singapore. Yesterday we went to spend the day, but between the outward and the return journey, we had to make a quick tour of the city. We arrived at noon time, and the first thing we did was take a cab to go for a lunch at Takashimaya Department Store, the largest shopping mall in Asia. It is huge, they have every store you can imagine, but of course, much more expensive than in Spain. After lunch, we decided to go to Merlion Park. There we enjoyed the views of the skyscrapers and the famous Merlion statue, sign of the city. After crossing the river with a small boat, we went to the famous skypark at Marina Bay Sands Hotel. No words! And at night the views are amazing. I am completely in love with the city, everything is super clean, new and organized. It's like the perfect city if it were not for how expensive it is! I show you some photos and I think soon I will make a short video where, I hope, you can appreciate everything much better. Kisses

Visiting Chatuchak Market, Bangkok

Buenos días! La semana pasada fué una auténtica locura, estuvimos súper liados buscando el apartamento, con lo que prácticamente no tuvimos tiempo para nada mas. Pero el viernes por fin encontramos uno perfecto! Así que el sábado pudimos empezar a disfrutar un poco mas de la ciudad. Por la noche nos atrevimos a coger el coche para irnos hasta el centro de Bangkok, a Sukhumvit, donde nos habían recomendado cenar en una terraza en lo alto de un rascacielos. El sitio es precioso, como os podéis imaginar tiene unas vistas increíbles de la ciudad. Se llama Above Eleven, y si venís por aqui os lo recomiendo 100%! El domingo decidimos dar una vuelta por Chatuchak, un inmenso mercado donde se puede encontrar prácticamente de todo. Nosotros dimos una vuelta bastante por encima, ya que es imposible ver todo en un día. Paseamos un poco por la zona de la ropa, donde puedes encontrar auténticas gangas y comimos una rica paella de una puesto, en el que por cierto el cocinero era riojano. Opte por un look muy sencillo y fresco para soportar las altas temperaturas y la típica humedad de esta época del año. Espero que os gusten las fotos! Besitoss
Good morning! Last week we were very busy looking for an apartment, so we almost didn't have time for anything else. But on Friday we finally found the perfect one! So on Saturday we could start enjoying a little more of the city. At night we dared to take the car to go to the center of Bangkok, to Sukhumvit Road. One of our friends recommend us to have dinner on the rooftop of one skyscraper, called Above Eleven. The site is beautiful, as you can imagine have a stunning view of the city. If you come around here I recommend 100%!  On Sunday we decided to walk around Chatuchak, a huge market where you can find almost anything. We gave a quick tour, since it is impossible to see everything in one day. We took a walk in the clothing's area where you can find real bargains and later we ate paella in a food stall, in which the cooker was Spanish. I opted for a simple and fresh outfit to withstand the high temperatures and humidity typical of this time of the year. I hope you enjoy the pics! Kisses

visiting Kyrenia

Buenos días!! El lunes por la noche tuve una de las mejores sorpresas que me podían hacer: mi hermana y su novio habían venido a Chipre de visita!! Así que esta semana toca enseñarles todos los rincones de la isla. Ayer decidimos empezar la visita por Kyrenia, un pueblecito costero en el norte de la isla, que pertenece a la parte turca (no sé si lo sabréis pero la isla esta divida en dos partes, una pertenece a los chipritas y otra a los turcos) Opte por un look súper cómodo y veraniego y como no, con un toque marinero. Good morning!! On Monday night I had the best of the suprises that I could have: my sister and her boyfriend are in town! So this week is time to show them all the island. Yesterday we decided to start visiting Kyrenia, a small village in the north coast of the island that belongs to the turks ( I don't know if you know but the island is divided in two parts, one of them belong to the cypriots and the other one to the turks) I chose a very simple and comfy outfit with a navy touch. Visiting Cabo Greco

Buenos días!! El martes fue día festivo aqui en Chipre, así que decidimos pasar el día paseando por Protaras, Ayia Napa y por una de miz zonas preferidas: Cabo Greco. Un sitio precioso, con unas vistas increibles y super relajante. Las fotos no fueron sacadas para el blog, pero no quería que os perdieseis este bonito lugar. Cabeza de Toro beach & Scuba Diving

Buenos días! Hoy despedimos la semana con unas fotos que hicimos en la playa en nuestro último día en Punta Cana. También quiero enseñaros algunas fotos de mi experiencia buceando por el arrecife de coral que teníamos muy cerca de la playa del hotel. Era la primera vez que mi hermana y yo hacíamos submarinismo,estabamos un poco nerviosas y no descendimos mucho, pero aun así fué una experiencia inolvidable y que seguro que repetimos.
